What Can I Expect from Male Breast Reduction Surgery?

If you or someone you know is considering male breast reduction surgery, this is a good question to ask.  Here in Newport Beach we can promise optimal results after male breast reduction surgery.  Male breast reduction is regarded as long-lasting and permanent unless fatty tissue is added from gaining weight after the procedure.  And as long as your condition is not caused by medications or other medical conditions you can expect a firmer, flatter, more contoured chest after having a male breast reduction in Newport Beach.  This surgery can easily give any man more confidence and you can expect the best quality with us.
There is little downtime and most men return to work within one week unless their job involves strenuous lifting or other activities. After surgery some scarring may be present around the nipple (the areola) but with time it will fade and become visible only to those looking for scars.  You can also expect some post-operative bruising, and swelling but this too is usually temporary and mild.  Occasionally numbness, a burning or a lack of sensation right around areola occurs because the procedure disturbs the nerve endings in the area and nerves often take the longest to completely regenerate.  An elastic pressure garment will assist with the healing and can be worn for 3-6 weeks following the procedure.  It’s also wise to avoid exposing any scarred areas to the sun for at least 6 months. Complications are infrequent but they may include infection, skin damage, fluid accumulation, bleeding, and scarring or pigment changes.
Most male breast reduction surgeries are done on an outpatient basis; the procedure itself is about two hours.  You can expect to be at the surgical facility an hour or so before and perhaps an hour or so after the procedure.  We here in Newport Beach want you to have the best experience possible so contact our office today and we can schedule an appointment to discuss the options available to you.  If you have your procedure with us, you can rest assure that you are in qualified, caring hands.

Dr. Larry Schlesinger - Getting ready for your 'Mommy Makeover'

You spend countless hours caring for your loved ones, now it’s time to give yourself a little love too. If you’re planning on getting what a lot of us here in Hawaii call the “Mommy Makeover," here are few things you can do to ensure success and satisfaction with the results.
Being Healthy
Having good health habits is important. You want to be in as good health as possible on the day of your plastic surgery procedure. It’s not a problem if you have medical conditions, you just want to make sure they are well controlled before having any kind of surgery.
If you think something is uncontrolled or just not right, discuss it with us before the procedure. No matter how excited we all are for you to have your makeover, risking complications due to illness or injury can be dangerous.
No Smoking
If you smoke, you need to quit at least a month before surgery and continue to not smoke through the entire recovery process. Smoking can cause multiple complications during surgery, because it constricts the blood vessels thus reducing the amount of oxygen delivery to your cells. Lack of oxygen rich blood flow throughout your body diminishes its ability to heal and may also cause scars to heal more slowly.
Avoid Unnecessary Medications
It will be important to avoid over-the-counter medications that thin the blood, which can cause difficulty during surgery. Some of those medicines include Aspirin, Ibuprofen and Naprosyn (along with their brand name counterparts: Motrin, Advil, Aleve, etc…). Your physician will give you a list of the medications to avoid and the duration of cessation prior to your procedure.
Follow Doctor's Orders
Following all pre-operative instructions is very important. You will likely be asked to avoid drinking and eating the night before your surgery, as well as refrain from taking certain medications, vitamins or minerals. If you forget not to eat or drink, or if you have taken anything that what was not recommended, it is crucial that you inform your doctor before the procedure. Your safety is always of the utmost importance.

What type of breast lift is best for my needs? - Dr. Ali Sajjadian

You may have decided that you want a breast lift in Orange County, but did you know there are four types of breast lifts available to you? Each body is created differently and therefore diverse procedures are available to accommodate varying body types and personal desires.
It is a decision best made with the consultation of an experienced physician like Dr. Ali Sajjadian, but here is an overview of each type of Orange County breast lift:
Crescent Lift involves removing a crescent-shaped piece of skin at the top of the nipple to improve its position. This is the least invasive Orange County breast lift and may be all you need to see the results you desire.
Benelli lift, also known as a Circumareolar lift, is best used to correct a light nipple asymmetry and/or a mild lift. A round incision is made around the areola to remove excess tissue and then the skin is tightened across the entire breast. The Circumareolar lift can result in significant visible scarring but is less invasive than a full mastoplexy.
To perform a Lollipop Lift, also known as a Vertical Scar Mastopexy, your physician will make a vertical, lollipop-shaped incision at the crease of your breast extending to and surrounding the nipple. This procedure is very effective as a breast lift for women with low-hanging breasts.
Lastly, there is the Anchor Lift, which is similar to the Lollipop Lift except the incision extends along the breast crease to form an anchor shape. This is the most invasive Orange County breast lift procedure but is also the most effective for patients with more drastic Orange County breast augmentation in mind.
If you are interested in an Orange County breast lift, contact triple board certified plastic surgeon Dr. Sajjadian and schedule a free consultation today. He determines a personalized treatment plan for each of his clients and would be happy to assist you with all of your breast lift needs.
